TAKING SHAPE

Taking Shape is a counter-practice to landscape photography. I think we’re drawn to landscapes because typically, humans have wide peripheral vision, and these images remind us of how we see. Not only is human anatomy structured to take on wide-sweeping views, it’s also a relaxed state when using our eyes. But to pick out details requires concentration and effort. Looking for details is an intentional practice of seeing.

This series’ goal is to be intentional as I walk through my daily life. I began recognizing moments where structure, light, and shadow met perfectly to reveal beautiful hidden imagery. This practice of intentionality opened up a new world of sights and these images are the result of that practice.
